Community Meeting - Cap and Tax - October 22, 2009

The Rochester Tea Party held it's "Cap and Tax" Community Meeting at Willow Creek Middle School on October 22, 2009. We had a very good turn out. The speakers were knowledgeable and talked openly. Be sure to check out our resources web page for information on "Cap & Tax"!

Rally on the Bridge - October 19, 2009

Our October event week started off today with a rally on the 2nd Street bridge over route 52. We hoped to bring voice to the growing majority's opposition to government involvement in health care. The weather was beautiful and the drivers "honked" their support.

The local press was there to cover the event...

We encouraged commuters to express their opposition to Obamacare...

The Taxpayer March on Washington, organized by the Tea Party Patriots, Freedomworks, and the 912 Project was held today in Washington D.C..
People attending the march were told to begin gathering at the Freedom Plaza at 9am, and the official March on the Capital was to begin at 11:30am. So many people showed up that they had to begin the march an hour or so early though.

We were triumphant in sending our message to Capitol Hill. Fiscally conservative citizens from all over these United States showed their force and oneness on this historic day. At 9:22 am (EST) I took the first photograph of those marching up Pennsylvania Avenue and pouring over into the West lawn of the Capitol building. I continued to capture the many with their varied signs and songs throughout the morning. Finally at 1:38 in the afternoon the March was completed. The last third of the folks could not find room on any of the lawns connected to the Capitol, so they were instructed to stay on 3rd Street, but still they came and ended up on the National Mall.The speakers were genuine, enthusiastic patriots of varying backgrounds including doctors, State Representatives, Senators, and organizers of groups interested in freedom and liberty. The turnout was much more than expected, with folks coming from all states, chartering over 400 buses and the number released was over a million in attendance, which was a record for any gathering of this type in our nation's Capitol.I feel indeed grateful that I could be a part of this gathering and that America is clearly done with "politics as usual". It has been estimated that for every one of these Americans who attended this March there are hundreds who stayed home. Do the math and you must know that our law makers must change their ways and stop the spending carelessly. America is too precious and its citizens too important simply to let the government have its way with our wallets.

Patriots Gathered to Learn more about H.R. 3200 Health Care Bill - August 22, 2009

On a beautiful sunny Saturday, Tea Party Patriots gathered at the Eagles Club in Rochester to learn more about Government run Health Care. There were many tables set up that people could visit. Coloring stations kept the kids involved while adults could make their own signs at the sign making table. The full House Health Care bill was available for all to see and page through. There were informative handouts and free Constitution booklets. Representatives from the Fair Tax, Minnesota Majority and Deficit Watchers had tables with information for those who were interested. We even had a table with representatives from Red Wing who want to start a Tea Party group in there area.

The program was exceptional with 4 very talented speakers:

Othelmo de Silva, Academic Advisor from RCTC
Fran Bradley, Former Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee for the State of MN,
Terry Throndson, Small Business owner and US Veteran
Colleen Gau, RN with duel Citizenship, US and Canada. Familiar with Canadian and British Health Care

Greetings, Fellow Mobsters. I'm proud to be part of this mob of common sense, concerned, SMART citizens. You have refused to be fooled by slick "too good to be true" sales pitches.

Knowing you are well informed, I want to prove it by conducting a short TRUE or FALSE test.

1. Obama and his liveral leaders wanted quick passage of the Health Care Reform legistation because they knew you all supported his plan. True or False. FALSE. First, who knew what Obama's real plan for reform was. Second - they were afraid you would find out the details and have TEA parties!
2. Obama claimed that there would be net savings from his health Care Reforms. True or False. FALSE. CBO Director said it would cost more than $1 trillion and add $216 billion to the deficit. Click here to read the whole speech

Representative Walz Town Hall in Mankato - August 20, 2009

On August 20, 2009, Tim Walz held a town hall in his stronghold of Mankato. A bus full of Rochester Tea Party Patriots took the trek.

Health Care Freedom Tea Party Is a Huge Success - July 17, 2009

Rochester Tea Party Patriots meet at the local home office of Rep. Walz and Senator Klobuchar to make it absolutely clear we oppose government run health care. Over 130 people attended the event. During the rally, several groups of people went in and spoke to representatives of Rep. Walz and Senator Klobuchar, expressing the many concerns we have about Government run health care. At the end of the rally one of our representatives took in all of the letters our members had written to them along with the petition against the heath care bill that everyone outside had signed. We also gave them each a list of questions we had concerning the Health Care bill. When we receive their answers we will post them here so you can all see there responses.
Thanks to everyone who came out in the middle of a rather cool work day to make this event so successful!
